The word is one that contains the power to help us overthrow and, at the same time, carries within itself the greatest weakness: wanting to translate into language what is not possible to translate.
At MAPPA MUNDI, we confront our individual and collective memories in an increasingly globalized and divided world. Questioning the use of the word as a communication tool (both in terms of orality and in writing), its limits / boundaries are exposed in an expanding world. Based on the assumption of overlapping images and speeches and taking into account the mastery of the various artistic values ​​of the performers (theater / movement / cinema), MAPPA MUNDI explores several formal and conceptual ideas at the base of artistic creation, allowing itself to be initiated by the current contexts that disturb us, reflecting and acting on them..

We are contemporaries of a time, ours, which is made of times that have gone and times to come. In an overcrowded world, full of technological advances, prejudices and labels, we glimpse a map that we don’t have. This multidisciplinary place, which is intended to be immersive, focuses on questions of identity, territories and their borders.
In the body, a language tool, the eyes of those who do not feel to be in their native country open and close.

Joana de Verona
Luso-Brazilian actress, she started in theater in 1998 and in cinema in 2004. Joana de Verona has developed in the last years a solid path both in training and in professional practice professional practice in theater, cinema and television. She studied theater at Chapitô, took a course in creative under the guidance of Joana Craveiro, “Zonas” among other courses with other creators in the in the area of theater and movement, such as Norman Taylor, a follower of Jacques Lecoq, João Brites, Luca Aprea. She has a degree in Theatre from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (ESTC), and has worked with the French director Bernard Sobel and Portuguese directors such as Gonçalo Amorim, Vânia Rovisco, Carlos Avillez, Marco Martins, Luís Miguel Cintra, Mónica Garnel, Mónica Calle with whom she has been cooperating in the last ten years in the shows of the convenient house.
In cinema she has integrated casts of several languages and worked between Germany, Italy and more Italy and more frequently between Portugal, France and Brazil.
